The kids at this wedding were outrageous…

 Sheri & Robert,

Thank you so much for inviting me to document your day. I loved being a part of it. And if rain really is good luck on your wedding day, then there’s no doubt that you will have heaps & mounds of it! :)

My new husband (still so weird, yet fun, to say that) joined me on Chelsea’s & Cody’s engagement session on Monday! We brought along one of our Fuji Instax Mini cameras to play around with and I just love these preview shots. Such an adorable couple in love. More from their session to come…

so blessed…so loved…can’t wait to marry my babe

Photography by the amazing Ryan Ray. Ryan, if you are reading this, thank you so much for these photographs. They capture us perfectly and we can’t wait for you to shoot the dog out of our wedding!

In two weeks, I will marry the love of my life – my best friend, my rock, my Babe To The Power! We’ve had some great ups, some crazy downs – and after 7 years, we are so ready. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of our awesome family and friends. April 21st, here we come!

And, yes, we really DID jump in that water. It was FREEZING. But so worth it.

Sara & Christopher / New Year’s Eve Swenson House Wedding on Film

Sara & Christopher decided early in the process that they wanted to do “The First Look”. This is when the bride & groom see each other before the ceremony. I never push this process onto my couples, but its always an option if they prefer it. In this case, since the wedding was held in the evening once the sun had already gone down, it allowed me to get photographs of the bride and groom  outdoors.  This is one of the many advantages of “first looks”.

This staircase provided the perfect layout for an emotional first look….

I just had to post the following images from when Christopher popped open the champagne bottle…Sara’s face is absolutely priceless:

Freddy and I are so honored to have been invited to capture Sara & Christopher’s New Year’s Eve wedding. Sara & Chris, y’all are the best. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcomed on your Big Day. We hope you are enjoying married life all the way over in Maryland.

About 90% of these images were taken on film. Contax 645, Canon 1V cameras…shot on Kodak Portra, Fuji 400h & Ilford Delta 3200.

Featured / Ruffled Blog Vendor Guide

As one of the internet’s most frequented wedding blogs, Ruffled is always coming up with helpful new ways to help brides that are planning weddings. Recently, they whipped up the genius idea of “Vendor Guides”, in which industry professionals recommend vendors from their region. We were happy to contribute to the Texas Vendor Guide and we think the information in this guide is pretty sweet (not to mention super-duper helpful)! We’ve worked with many of the wedding vendors that are featured and hope you will find your perfect dream team to make your wedding uniquely “you”! Check it out and enjoy! :)

Bethany / A Vintage, Cotton Themed Bridal on Film

I just love this out of focus image…

Bethany and her mom did such a wonderful job putting together this vintage, cotton themed bridal session complete with her grandfather’s tractor, vintage car and a plethora of soda crates and antique mason jars. All but three or four images are on film.  I’m just loving my transition into my goal of shooting 90% film this year. Film is SO not dead. I’m getting more and more emails from fellow photographers (and brides) that love the look of film and want to know more. For me, film is the superior route and provides a classic, simple look that doesn’t feel overly processed. With industry greats like Jose Villa and Jill Thomas to look up to and keep me inspired, I don’t think I’ll ever look back. Yes, its challenging and, yes, its expensive, but its so worth it in my book.

Contax 645 + Canon 1V. All shot on fujifilm.

p.s. Did I mention that Bethany isn’t wearing a stitch of makeup? Nope. Not one bit. Pure, simple, natural beauty…living proof that “if it’s not you, it’s not necessary.” :)
